The Abandoned Tracks

It was Hari Raya Puasa, but since that doesn't concern us, we made a family trip out of this fine Wednesday! We chose to explore the Bukit Timah Abandoned Railway/ Railway Corridor, which has been one of the Instagram worthy spots of Singapore since it's closure in mid 2011. While the tracks spans from the Southern tip to the Northern tip of Singapore (and beyond), we chose to start from the Bukit Timah Station and end at Buona Vista. We just want to stretch our legs, no need to be ambitious with the exploration!

We started off with a breakfast at Beauty World's Bukit Timah Market for a local breakfast, before taking a bus back to King Albert Park to start our trek. The route was kind of muddy after the morning rain, but the route is mostly flat thanks to the railway. There is almost no need for directions, since it's just a straightforward route. While we were excited to wander inside the abandoned Bukit Timah train station at the beginning of the route, we started becoming restless when there was nothing else to see apart from trees and some private bungalows along the way. Thankfully, we reached Buona Vista in a while and finished the whole trip with a filling lunch at Ghim Moh Hawker Centre.

Will I be back again? Maybe not at the moment. Let's wait for all the preservation works to be done before checking the Railway Corridor out again!
