Expensive Field Trip

The thing about anthropology modules is that field work is often required, and these trips don't come cheap. This time round, I'm supposed to conduct observations in a ramen restaurant. & since J & I were craving Ichiran's ramen, we made a trip down to Causeway Bay for our fix and my assignment.
Passing by Lei Tung Street, which was revamped and reopened last year.

What used to be rows of shophouses famous for printing wedding invitations turned to the posh looking shopping street as seen above. Of course I love the modern look of the street now, yet a part of me wondered - what happened to the many original vendors who were forcefully displaced some 10 years ago?

Joking! People nowadays seldom get married, nor do they give out physical wedding invitations anymore. It will be too extreme to solely blame the land developers for this industry's displacement and its eventual phasing out.
Ichiran

Japan chain store famous for its dining cubicles. From my understanding, the partitions in Japan could be collapsed if you want to dine together with your companion, but this feature is unavailable in HK.
Obviously adding money for the black fungus and the soft boiled egg! Extra spicy and extra firm noodle texture for me. What I love most is the personal cold water tap, because I like drinking cold water and the waiters can't refill my cup fast enough usually.
Drinking the last bit of soup to see what's written at the bottom. Don't understand Japanese though. Lol
In Japan, you would need to purchase your meal ticket from a machine and find an empty seat using this machine. But the HK branch allows you to order from your seat, and then pay at the cashier. This machine in HK is mostly for the wait staff's reference to direct customers to any available booths.

I have to admit that I enjoy the food way too much and didn't really put my mind into my supposed ethnographic observation. The assignment turned out better than I expected though ٩( ᐛ )و
