Dragon's Back

Another dragon another day

So it being the day after mid-autumn festival, J and I used this free day to finally explore Dragon's Back. Dragon's Back is a hiking trail which is deemed moderately difficult (no idea why?) by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, but it is drawing lots and lots of tourist (no idea why as well??).

We arrived a little bit later in the morning at Shau Kei Wan, and saw the long queue for the bus. Good thing that the bus frequency was quite high for this particular day, so everyone could get onto a bus and grabbed a seat fairly easily.
Our hiking buddies for the day? Since everyone will mostly be taking the same route so we figured that we'll be seeing these people along the trail for the whole length of the hike.
We boarded bus 9 and alighted at To Tei Wan. We would be ending our trail at Big Wave Bay later.
Nothing much to see along the way.
Finally! So anyways the most scenic part of the trail is called the Dragon's back, which is probably 25% of the whole hike. Other than that there will be nothing much to see as the trail is shaded by the trees.
After getting lost for a bit and walking way longer than expected, we finally arrived at our destination! The Tourism Board web stated the hiking time to be 6 hours, but we completed it in 3.5hr, with pockets of time to rest, take photos, and finding the correct path to go !(•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑
 Isn't the beach beautiful?

So there are quite a number of stores at Big Wave Bay for people to grab a meal, and also rent things such as surfboards, beach chairs, and big beach umbrellas etc for all the beach goers! I won't mind visiting again to try learning how to surf! Do visit on a weekday though because the bay is quite small for the large number of visitors on a weekend/ public holiday!
