马鞍山

One of the many things I wanted to do while studying in Hong Kong is to go hiking.

Here I am, early in the morning 8.30am, bouncing with excitement to start the hike up 马鞍山, standing at 702 metres tall.

Since it's a Sunday and the next day is a public holiday here, lots of people came up to the country park to BBQ.
Halfway up, staring back down at the 马鞍山estate.

Seniors packed iced jelly for us!! ♥
It's still cold!
Pretty =)

So while we're resting here, there's this couple (dad and son) coming up as well. The son was shirtless and just sat down at the height marker. Suddenly he just had spasms over his hands and legs and couldn't sit upright. His father called the police with our senior's help and we waited for help. It's really a reminder for all of us to be careful while doing such strenuous exercises!

Oh ya the firemen and paramedics came to rescue them in the end. We were also happy to see them cos we were supposed to plot our paths and lead the whole group. With the firemen leading the way, we're 100% that we're on the right track.
Sir MacLehose is one of the British governors of Hong Kong. He liked to hike so there were trails named after him. It's the relatively easier route compared to the mountainous routes we mixed in earlier.

Pretty sunset

After the above photo, we spent the next 1.5 hour-ish walking in darkness with headlights since the sun set way before we could reach the bottom. It was as if I'm back to Rinjani once again.

With a promise to have western food after our hike, we walked as fast as we could (but also maybe we're creeped out by the horror stories we're telling each other while walking with our headlights off as a challenge).

So looking for the next trip!
