Night Market in HK?!

Night markets are no news to most Asians, but yet is uncommon in Hong Kong. When I first knew that there is a yearly night market in town for some religious celebration, I immediately pulled J along to soak in the atmosphere.
It took us an hour by train from school to Tsing Yi, before a 10 minutes walk to the temple grounds.
Since the night market is actually part of the celebration of a religious festival, there are humongous congratulatory signboards and traditional Chinese opera shows as well.
Watermelon slush served in watermelons! It is expensive, but we got one to try cos it was made by slicing the top of the watermelon off, then inserting a drill (with the drill bit ties to a mixer blade) into the watermelon to create the slush. So whatever is inside the watermelon belongs to that watermelon.
Grilled seafood.
Not very sure what's that but some fried food.
Coconuts.
Soya bean pudding, Singapore style lol
It is so crowded and the queues are super long.

Honestly, I still think that any night market in Taiwan can beat this place. In fact, I think this is the worst night market I ever visited, in comparison to the ones I visited in Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore. Apart from the long waiting time, the pricing is quite steep for such ordinary quality of food with no place to eat or to maneuver.

On a side note, there seem to be triads governing this market as I observed "management" coming down to collect "rental", and "guards" looking out around the grounds.

Tsing Yi Bamboo Theatre/ Night Market is located at the football field next to Tsing Yi Municipal Service Building, but is only opened twice a year. It is about 500 metres walk from the Tsing Yi MTR station.
