Have you ever seen such an empty convenience store? (7-11)
Sometimes it is disheartening to see how developments are being made without having the residents in mind. I was standing in the convenience store of this "shopping centre", which serves the approximate 1500 apartment units surrounding this vicinity. Opened in 1990, all stores within this 1 storey mall will have to leave to make way for the changing of management. As the whole shopping centre will undergo major renovations to be transformed into a mall operated by a chain corporation, all the residents within this estate will have to travel to other estates for their grocery shopping. Perhaps to us, it is not much of a big deal. The stores in this mall are quite dated anyways; they deserved to be retired. Yet, with the majority of the residents to be seniors/ elderly folks, my heart goes out to them for having to go out of the way to buy groceries, and having to suffer the sharp price hike when the new mall is opened.
