Into The Wild

Trying to escape from my assignments in the midst of submission month, I found myself attending a movie screening at the rooftop garden. Ok so it's free... maybe that's why I bothered to go, even without a date. Honestly, it's free entertainment during the most stressful periods of the semester! Why not, right?
Taking a centre seat for movie viewing at the rooftop :)
It just felt so different to be sitting amongst lettuces, carrots, herbs, and other plants while watching a movie.

After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

I've actually never heard of the movie before, nor did I bother to find out more before the screening. This movie may be inspiring to those who felt trapped in life, and still trying to find the meaning of life. While it is indeed liberating to stay away from civilization, without the restrictions of laws and judgement from others, it is not for me.

As have shared in class before, my life goal is to get a job, get married, have children, raise up my children, enjoy life, and so on. My dream life may be boring to some, but I always thought it is just how one sees their life path. There is nothing wrong with living off your hobby. There is nothing wrong with living off a boring job, then pursuing your hobby outside of your job. Personally, I think I am a better follower than a leader, so I would prefer to have a set of guidelines to follow in life. Moreover, life can never be joyous if there is no one to share it with.

Spoiler: By the time the main character realised this, it was too late (>﹏<)
