Sharp Island

Dubbed as the Maldives of Hong Kong, Sharp Island is a small island off the Eastern of Hong Kong.

Setting off from Sai Kung Waterfront as usual, it is quite easy to spot skippers touting tours to these offshore islands. Round trip is about HKD$30-HKD$50, dependent on the day.

There is nothing much on the island apart from the beach and sunshine, so do bring your own water and snacks. At least there's toilets available!

C and I did tried to hike to the other end of the island but made a U-turn halfway cos it was too hot. We didn't get to stay too long at the tombolo as it was soon consumed by the tide.

Oh and do remember to check the tide level with reference to the Hong Kong Observatory's forecast before heading down cos the tide has to be low enough before the tombolo can be seen. (usually on alternate weeks).
